Students from Redbridge Alternative Provision (RAP) recently had the opportunity to take part in the very first RISE Cup, an exciting inter-school FIFA tournament alongside students from New Rush Hall School (NRHS) and The Constance Bridgeman Centre (CBC). 
Hosted by RAP, the tournament gave students the opportunity to represent their school and test their skills against students from the other provisions. They competed in a series of FIFA matches, playing both individually and in pairs as they attempted to earn points for their school and progress through the competition.
The tournament created a fantastic atmosphere, with plenty of excitement, friendly rivalry and competitive spirit throughout the day. RAP students demonstrated excellent teamwork and resilience, supporting one another through both victories and defeats while showing great sportsmanship towards their opponents.
Although New Rush Hall School produced an impressive unbeaten performance to become the first RISE Cup Champions, RAP students can be extremely proud of the way they represented the school throughout the competition.
More importantly, the event was about much more than FIFA. The tournament gave students the opportunity to interact positively with young people from other schools, develop their communication and social skills, experience healthy competition and represent RAP with pride.
Events such as the RISE Cup form an important part of RAP’s enrichment programme, creating meaningful experiences outside the traditional classroom environment. Through activities that students genuinely enjoy, they can develop important skills including teamwork, resilience, emotional regulation and responding positively to both success and disappointment.
Following the tournament, students from all three schools came together to enjoy a meal and reflect on the day’s competition. It was a fitting end to a successful event and demonstrated how shared experiences can bring young people together.
The first RISE Cup proved to be a fantastic experience for everyone involved, and RAP looks forward to providing students with more opportunities to compete, connect and create positive memories throughout the year.
